This event is hosted and managed by IFEAA & Net Zero Methane Hub Cornwall.
Date: Thursday, 19th Sep 2024 16:30 – 18:30 and Thursday, 26th Sep 2024 16:30 – 18:30
Location: Chynoweth Farm, Bennamann Saint Allen, TR4 9DG
Can we reduce carbon emissions from farms in Cornwall using biomethane?
These visits will demonstrate the latest activity by Bennamann to capture methane emissions from dairy slurry and use them on farm to replace fossil fuels in tractors and trucks and to generate renewable electricity.
Biomethane can reduce the carbon footprint of farm and industrial operations by providing a green fuel for vehicles, machinery operations or on-site electricity generation. In Cornwall, biomethane can be produced from biological waste like dairy slurry to make a green fuel and avoid fugitive methane emissions that would otherwise result. Methane is a powerful global warming gas, so avoiding emissions from slurry and replacing fossil fuels on farm and in industrial processes could play a significant role in the region’s journey to net zero.
Participants will visit Bennamann’s Headquarters at Chynoweth Farm where the Bennamann team will share information about their methane capture technology, and then visit a nearby dairy farm where a system is installed to hear about its operation first-hand from the farmer. Light refreshments will be provided.
Who should attend?
Farmers, businesses, organisations, and individuals that would like to see an example of fugitive methane being captured and utilised
Why should they attend?
Find out about the opportunity to decarbonize their own operations using locally produced biomethane.
